Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of therapy do you offer?
I provide talk therapy that blends Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for clients who want a structured, evidence-based approach to processing difficult memories and emotions.
Q: Who can benefit from your services?
Most individuals 12+! I work with clients aged 12 and up, including children, teens, and adults. My specialties include supporting neurodivergent individuals, the LGBTQ+ community, survivors of trauma, clients with OCD, ADHD, and ASD, as well as families, young men, those navigating life transitions, divorce, non-monogamy/non-traditional relational arrangements, and parenting challenges.
Q: What is EMDR and how does it work?
EMDR is a therapy designed to help the brain reprocess distressing memories and experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, taps, or sounds) to help your brain process emotions safely. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to describe every detail of a memory—it can be effective even with minimal talking.
Q:Do you offer ADHD assessments?
Yes. I offer a structured ADHD assessment for adolescents (12+) and adults who want clarity on whether ADHD explains what they're experiencing. It includes a clinical interview (DIVA-5), standardized rating scales, and a feedback session, followed by a written report you can use for school or workplace accommodations, treatment planning, or simply to have an answer.
Q: How is an ADHD assessment different from therapy?
Therapy is ongoing, goal-focused support. An assessment is a focused evaluation, usually completed over a few sessions, designed to answer a specific diagnostic question and produce a written report. Many clients complete an assessment first and then move into therapy, though that's not required.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept insurance by Aetna, Anthem PPO, BCBS/FL Blue, Cigna, Medical Mutual, Meritain, Ohio Healthy. If you have a different provider, please reach out, and I can help you determine your coverage or provide a receipt for out-of-network reimbursement.
Q: Is EMDR more expensive than talk therapy?
No. EMDR sessions are the same cost as regular talk therapy sessions, making it accessible without additional financial burden.
Q: Does insurance cover EMDR?
EMDR is billed like regular talk therapy. I accept Aetna, Anthem PPO, BCBS/FL Blue, Cigna, Medical Mutual, Meritain, Ohio Healthy. Coverage can vary based on your plan, so it’s always a good idea to check with your insurance provider to confirm your benefits.
Q: How do I know which therapy is right for me?
Some clients prefer talk therapy, others find EMDR especially helpful, and many benefit from a combination of approaches. During your free consultation, we can discuss your goals and determine which approach, or mix of approaches, will best support your needs.
Q: Do you offer a consultation?
Yes! I offer a free consultation to answer your questions, review your goals, and see if my approach is a good fit. Taking the first step is simple, and the consultation is a safe space to explore your options without commitment.
